چکیده
This paper investigates the possibility of autoignition as a flashback initiation mechanism in laminar premixed burners powered by an increasing content hydrogen fuel blend. A specific experimental setup provides optical access inside generic burner reproducing main features domestic boilers. window is used to gather high-speed intensified images during transition flashback. Zooms into location provide clear evidence for existence two distinct regimes. In first one, initiated flame stabilized above that able propagate upstream through one holes. second regime, fresh gases burner, they flow along hot metallic internal wall. These observations are corroborated over large range equivalence ratio and content. They demonstrate dependence regime on wall temperature highlight role crossover hydrogen-enriched mixtures triggering autoignition. An Damkohler number Dai compares residence time delay defined. The found be more than order magnitude higher autoignition-induced cases compared propagating upstream, further supporting mechanisms leading results carry substantial implications design process H2-enriched burners.

Flame Speed Characteristics of Syngas (H2-CO) with Straight Burners for Laminar Premixed Flames
Laminar flame speeds of undiluted syngas (H2/CO) mixtures have been studied at atmospheric conditions using chemiluminescence and schlieren techniques for a straight cylindrical burner apparatus. A wide range of mixture composition, from pure H2 to 1/99 % H2/CO, has been investigated for lean premixed syngas flames. To achieve a better flame stabilization and reduce flame flashback propensity, ...
متن کاملChemically-Passive Suppression of Laminar Premixed Hydrogen Flames in Microgravity
Effects of chemically-passive fire suppressants on laminar premixed hydrogen flames were investigated by combined use of microgravity experiments and computations. The experiments used a short-drop free-fall laboratory facility that provides at least 450 ms of 2 10 g. Near -limit laminar burning velocities were measured for outwardly propagating spherical stoichiometric hydrogen-air flames with...
متن کاملFlame Flashback and Propagation of Premixed Flames near a Wall
The flashback or propagation of premixed flames along the near-wall low-velocity region at the base of a laminar boundary layer of a reactive mixture has been studied numerically. The analysis, carried out using the constant density approximation for an Arrhenius overall reaction, accounts for the effects of the Lewis number of the fuel. The flow field, as seen by an observer moving with the fr...
متن کاملA New Type of Steady and Stable, Laminar, Premixed Flame in Ultra-Lean, Hydrogen-Air Combustion
Ultra-lean, hydrogen-air mixtures are found to support another kind of laminar flame that is steady and stable beside flat flames and flame balls. Direct numerical simulations are performed of flames that develop into steadily and stably propagating cells. These cells were the original meaning of the word “flamelet” when they were observed in lean flammability studies conducted early in the dev...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Detailed Simulation of Laminar Burners on Parallel Computers
Laminar flows involving chemical reactions play an important role in many practical applications. In this work a three-dimensional simulation dedicated to solving the Navier-Stokes equations in the low-Mach number limit is presented, using detailed chemistry and detailed transport. A complex three-dimensional configuration of a laminar methane/air burner is considered. Thanks to efficient numer...
